Intel has released it's Core 2 Duo (Conroe) and it blows away the AMD FX 62 by all of the benchmarks. It has less power output and heat expenditure as well as faster core clock speeds then the FX series from AMD. It also has a smaller price, which is a nice little benefit of the AMD vs Intel processor wars. Hopefully we will be seeing these available for purchase on July 27th as long as they don't try to pull a vista.

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that their office suite will now support the OpenDocument Format (ODF) standard. The move comes in response to government requests for Microsoft products to be compatible with ODF, which include Belgium and Denmark, and the state government of Massachusetts
(which happened to get 4 billion dollars in Microsoft software donated to their schools systems after they announced the pledge to only use ODF software in government offices).
