PayPerPost rumors are running wild
The PayPerPost blog is an awesome community of posters that share in the common goal of blogging for money, this awesome little bunch of people that comment on the posts that PayPerPost releases about their company and about the different things that are coming up are handy to have and a great resource for us posters.
Rumor has it that there is something new and big coming out from PayPerPost, not really sure what that will be but I'm thinking it is podcasting or video blogging as a separate means of revenue. I know that the video posts pay a lot more then the regular text posts that have made PayPerPost so popular.
On the flip side maybe they will develop a subscription model that will allow us to make recurring revenue from the advertisers for talking about their products. That would be awesome and really help out to make enough revenue to make a real difference rather then just having a little extra spending cash. At any rate, check out their blog for updates and such about PayPerPost.

Debian and Mozilla are having copyright conflicts?
It looks like Mozilla and Debian are having issues with copyrights, which is odd because last time I checked they are both open software companies, meaning that their software and source if offered for free everywhere on the Internet. It seems that since Debian (and Ubuntu) are distributing their operating systems with Firefox named Firefox but not with the Firefox logo that Mozilla (the parent company) wants them to either put Firefox in the operating system with the Firefox logo or to change the name for Debian releases.
On the other side of the tracks Debian doesn't believe that Firefox is truly free because the logo (think icon) is trademarked by Mozilla so it isn't completely free to use. The conflict looks heating and the emails are getting nasty, who knows what exactly will come out of this recent news. Hopefully they will call a truce and just use the Firefox logo in Ubuntu. I know the blue logo they use now is much less sexy then the regular Firefox logo.

PayPerPost hits up the Today show
PayPerPost hit up the Today's show recently and handed out tshirts, silly putty and signs for the people that were there. The marketing scheme was genius and probably helped them to get some face time with a lot of people that aren't in the blog scene enough to have heard about PayPerPost. This move was awesome and the video was pretty great also. They had tons of people wearing tshirts and holding up signs with whatever they wanted to put on it all advertising PayPerPost for them, it was a cool little advertising idea for them. Check out the video on their blog.

HP is set to buy Voodoo PC
It looks like Voodoo PC CEO has released news of HP's plans to acquire Voodoo PC. The company is a high-end computer manufacturer that provides extremely fast and stylish computers for a nice little price tag. The computers are awesome and if anyone wants to donate one to me, I would be more then happy to accept.
At any rate the company appears to be following suit after Dell who recently purchased Voodoo PC's top competitor, Alienware. The move for both companies will prove to create more competitiveness which will hopefully drive down their prices and make the companies computers a little more affordable for us common folk.

Don Cox Company an their office space solutions for those looking for space
Don Cox Company is a unique company in the aspect that they represent the consumer that is looking for a space for their business rather then representing the client that is trying to fill that space. The best reason for this being a good strategy is that it helps out the person that really does need the help rather then just making money for the client and not helping out the less then big guy. At any rate, if you are looking for space to fill in the Austin area definitely check out Don Cox Company.

Skype is getting banned by universities
San Jose State University is the latest college to ban Skype from being used on campus by the students or faculty. The reason that they are claiming that the VoIP software be banned is because is a bandwidth hog and the EULA causes concern among the "IT" department. Although they are not banning several other VoIP carriers such as Wngo and Gizmo. According to Skype, during a call the amount of data transfered is less then 12/kb a second. Which is much less then an average download would be or an online game would use. So what's their real reasoning for all of this nonsense?

Radioactive mutants, flying cars and intersteller travel all coming to a reality near you
According to a recent study that was done by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, over 700 technology experts were asked to evaluate an assortment of situations and scenarios in an attempt to see what the potential technology changes and trends for the future. Most of them believe that what we see in Sci-Fi movies is what will happen. The whole flying cars, teleporting and all that jazz is supposed to be a reality in the very near future according to the "technology experts" that were interviews. Of course this is their personal opinion and is only based on their experiences and the limited selection of "experts" that were surveyed.
But none the less, I can't wait for it to happen. It sounds like an exciting thing to watch sci-fi movies and dream of it all being a reality. Save for the cyborgs taking over the planet and giant radioactive monsters attacking us.

Co-founder of Bit torrent says that DRM is old and busted
Ashwin Navin thinks that DRM is not the answer to legal online video services due to it being out dating and inefficient. Which is ironic seeing that his company is coming out with it's own DRM-based movie service in the very near future. This move brings him into the business which makes everything a little confusing as to exactly why he is moving into the business if he doesn't like the product.
Perhaps he plans on changing the way the system works from the inside, but in some strange manner offering similar services. It all seems a little strange but hard to tell exactly where he is coming from with this recent announcement that he has made at a public event.

Is adsense possibly dead or dying?
There seems to be a lot of speculation going around about whether ad sense is dead or dying as an advertising platform. There seems to be a lot of different types of advertising slowly starting to take its place.
One of the more popular advertising methods that I use is PayPerPost which actually straight up just pays you per a post that you make in relation to the product or service that is paying you to make that post. As opposed to the way that adsense worked with only allowing you to make money based on who clicked your advertisements. PayPerPost allows you to make so much money based on what you post about. This makes it so that you know exactly what you are advertising and you can pick and choose what you want to advertise about.
A lot of the articles are just looking for buzz, not necessarily positive buzz but buzz about a product. Of course they don't want negative stuff but a lot of the articles are marked neutral letting the poster just post on how they feel about the product or service. So, in my opinion.. Yeah PayPerPost is dead to a lot of the new media and blogger because they don't get enough of the right kind of traffic that will produce the clicks you need to make any money.

Seagate coming out with terabyte hard drives
Seagate has apparently developed a new way to optimize their perpendicular storage to allow for 421GB per a square inch. This means that you would be able to have a desktop hard drive (3.5 inch) with 2.5 terabytes of data. You could also equally have a laptop hard drive (2.5 inch) with 500GB of data. Although they have yet to announce when this will be available for purchase, this is just upping the amount of data by a lot. Currently the maximum is at 750GB for a 3.5 inch desktop hard drive.
The real questions start coming up when you ask if by the time Seagate does release this new technology to the public is if we will have flash memory or something better that can read and write at faster speeds then the outdated technology that we are using today.

Protect your technical drawings
Pinion Solutions has come up with a new version of their CAD file protection software that adds a high level of security to protection your Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) files. Their version 4.0 Beta of their software offers even better protection then the previous versions and will ensure that your ideas or your companies ideas aren't stolen by some random act of corporate espionage. The software itself has a very high level of security, comparable to bank security to ensure that your private files don't fall in to the wrong hands and your ideas get stolen.

Napster is trying to sell itself
It looks like Napster is trying to get out of the music business by selling itself. This would probably be a good move seeing how iTunes is the market leader and a lot of the other companies are catching up with Napster very quickly. Especially since the companies president and CFO ditched them in late February 2004. This would probably be a good move for them to just cut their losses and move on. Their service and prices really just hasn't been that good since they stopped offering p2p. heh.

AFFL fantasy football is my new favorite
I just signed up for the AFFL fantasy football league, I have to say that they have one of the best setup sites I have come across so far. Most of the web sites I visit that have to do with Fantasy football are ridiculously poorly designed. I just recently got into fantasy football so hopefully this whole experience will go pretty well. I'm not sure how it will all turn out but this looks like a good of a place as any to go ahead and start.
I think that AFFL is going to become by new addiction on the internet. As if I needed another addiction. Anyway everyone else should go check it out so I will have other people to chat with about it.

Tor servers seized in Germany over the weekend
It looks like some of the Tor servers were seized over the weekend. This is just ridiculous. Apparently German authorities are claiming that the 20+ servers were seized due to child porn. I bet they are just trying to take down the Tor network. It seems a lot of things as of late are working under the guise of eliminating child porn. It's just ridiculous how many news stories have popped up recently. If it isn't terrorism it is child porn.

Mozy is offering 2GB of online data back up space for free
Mozy is offering everyone 2 GB of free space online to back up your data. The software even backs it up to their site automatically for you, so you don't have to manually upload the files and spend a million years trying to get it all on the server. This relatively new company has an offer that most, like myself, were unable to refuse. Using this services helps me to make sure that my data is always backed up and secured off site. I have most of it backed up at home but if something happens to the drive or my computer I'm just screwed.
They offer the 2 GB for free but they also have the option to pay only $5 a month and get 30GB of data backed up to their server. Which is an incredible amount of space for that price, some of the other offers I have seen have maxed out at 10GB for only $10. But being able to have 30Gb of your data backed up for $5 a month is incredible, I could back up all of my important files, my pictures and everything without worrying about something happening to them.
Anyway, the price is right on the 2Gb for free, but being able to backup 30GB for $5 is where the real deal is for me. They also offer an even higher tier that will let you backup 60GB of space for $10 a month for those that need twice as much for twice as much. At any rate, I think I have finally waded through the choices for off-site backup and found a winner at the right price. Try the service out yourself, it is free after all.

VoIP is changing the face of telecommunications
VoIP is truly changing how communications works, it used to be where you had to pay for all of your long distance and you kept it short and sweet to talk to loved ones. Now there is VoIP which for those of you that don't know stands for Voice Over IP (IP stands for Internet protocol), basically it is the service that transfers your voice over the Internet for telephone services. It is an amazing technology and really should be embraced. It is of course just as good as any local provider except for the fact that it is cheaper then your local service providers. Anyway, for more information check this web site out. You will be happy you did.

Amazon's unBox unLiked
Amazon's new video downloading service called 'unBox' has been described as an awful attempt at trying to enter the video market. First off there is a service that starts up with windows to prevent you from bruning their DVDs to disc or to an iPod. You are pretty much restricted to just play it on your computer. The service supposedly also communicates with Amazon extremely frequently, like every 10 minutes or so. Making their new spyware program really great if you don't give a crap about your own personal privacy. Anyway, check out what this guy has to say about it.

Tom's Hardware to release review of Core Quadro on Monday
Tom's Hardware is set to release their review of Intel's quad-core architecture Kentsfield tomorrow on their popular hardware review web site. According to reports demos of the processor should be released to the general press on September 26th for review. It looks like Tom's Hardware got an early preview of the much anticipated processor. The processor is of course codenamed Kentsfield but industry insiders have been referring to the processor by its consumer name “Intel Core Quadro.”
Most rumors have the processor sitting at 2.65Ghz per a core, 1024 front side bus and 4MB L2 Cache per processor (The Core Quadro has two Core 2 Duo processor stacked on top of each other). This makes the processor hold roughly a 10.6Ghz processor clock speed. Reports have the processor out by November, supposedly AMD is set to rush their version of the quad core out at the same time. The AMD 4x4 will be a true quad core with 4 cores on a single die. We will provide the full story from Tom's Hardware as soon as it becomes available.

It looks like AMD and ATI finally got the go ahead from regulators allowing them to officially merge into a single company. Which is what everyone pretty much assumed for them, the only reason they had to go through that process was to ensure that they weren't creating a monopoly and that all of the stock holders will be compensated for their stocks. At any rate, I hope to start seeing some amazing products start company from the new and much larger chipmaker.

He is also apparently in talks with being bought by Google and becoming apart of the nonEvil empire.

Vonage forums have a nice web site setup about VoIP and specifically the Vonage service. They have a wealth of information available to anyone curious about how to do things over the popular VoIP service. It is an awesome community with a healthy supply of tips and tricks of the service and technology. It is a very handy resource for anyone curious about the technology or interested in any way.
The tech community is torn over the new WIPO laws that are being discuessed. The treaty would give broadcasters right over news that would be public domain. Meaning that if something big happened and president bush spoke about it, and for whatver reason a deal was made for it to be exclusive to fox news they would be the only ones with the right to broadcast that information. Anyone that attempted to broadcast it would be in violation of the rights of fox news.
Granted this is an extreme situation but it could very well be an issue, the various different rights that could be given to a single news authority could easily restrict news from being made public regardless of the media being in public domain.
